About the Author

Paul F. Carlson is a writer and lifelong reader with a deep appreciation for history. His debut novel, Million Dollar Smile, is a deeply personal project inspired by the real-life experiences of his grandfather, a civilian radio operator in the Air Transport Command who lost his life in service to his country.

Paul has worked in technology for over 30 years, but his interests and passions extend far beyond the computer screen. He loves working with horses and can often be found at a local ranch—whether in the round pen or in the saddle, on the trail or in the arena. Time with horses has taught him discipline, patience, and the importance of slowing down. The connection between horse and rider stretches far beyond the barn, influencing how he approaches life, work, and relationships.

He also enjoys spending time outdoors with his family, often hiking or exploring new trails together. Faith plays a central role in his life—he is a Christ follower, enjoys being part of his local church, and finds personal growth in private Bible study. He also volunteers with various organizations, finding joy in serving others.

At home, Paul is just as comfortable in the kitchen as he is at a keyboard. He enjoys good food and wine and is known among family and friends for several “signature” dishes he loves to cook. Music has also been a lifelong passion. Over the years, he has played piano, trumpet, guitar, and (briefly) violin, and has even composed original pieces as background music for productions.

Paul is also an amateur radio operator (or “Ham”, call sign KF0CJA), a hobby that connects him to others around the world and reflects his curiosity about communication. Recently, he discovered a new love: writing. Through his novels, he weaves together history, faith, and imagination—stories that explore courage, sacrifice, and the quiet strength of ordinary people.
